Living at Ellens Court

 All the residents at Ellenscourt enjoy the opportunities offered to them.  They like to be part of community life.  They make their own choices concerning their lifestyle and are consulted in regular meetings held with the Manager or they can discuss issues with any of the staff and/or their Keyworker. 

 The staff at Ellenscourt strive at all times to meet with the residents’ growing and changing needs.

 The residents are willing to take risks within their daily lives and like to try new ventures when possible with encouragement and support.

 As a person living in care I would expect/like the following rights: If I wish to go to church/chapel/mosque etc. I expect to be given the opportunity to do so.I want my home to look nice and be able to have my family and friends to visit.I need to know that my home is safe and that I am safe in my home.I want to be given time when I wake in the mornings.  I like to be on my own sometimes and I would like others to respect this and knock on my bedroom door as my bedroom is my place.I like others to be polite to me and understand that I can be shy.My clothes need to be clean and ironed so I can look nice.  I would also like to choose my own clothes.If I do not like all the food you offer, I would like to be able to choose what I eat and have time to enjoy my food. I would like to choose some of the things I do during the day and be given the chance to do any hobbies I enjoy.  If I do not like a particular activity, I would like the carers to understand why I will not do what has been asked of me.I am me and I need people to realise this.I want to keep in touch with my family and friends. My Birthday and those of my family and friends are important to me as well as other special days and I would like the carers to remind me of these days and hep me choose cards and presents. I would like to choose where I go on holiday and who I go with.
