Aims
and Objectives
Ellenscourt provides long term and if required, permanent care for people
aged 18 and above who have a moderate degree of learning disability and in
addition may have a mild physical disability which is congenital, acquired
or of generic origin and or other related problems. These are people for
whom statutory service provision is inappropriate or not available, who
cannot remain at home for various reasons and who are unable to be cared for
in existing Social Service establishments. The individual behaviour on
admission and information on past records, do not necessarily reflect the
true capabilities or true degree of disturbance.
Ellenscourt endeavours to:
1)
Minimise or eliminate aggressive or
disturbed behaviour
2)
Establish a policy of risk assessments
3)
Maintain staff training programmes
4)
Hold regular and specialist staff meetings
5)
Provide professional input from
Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Speech Therapist, Counsellor and Chiropodist
6)
Involve all relevant people with individual
Care Planning
7)
Maintain and encourage outside activities
using community facilities
8)
Involve Residents, their families and
Social Services in decision making at regular Reviews
9)
Promote Resident independence and the
making of informed choices and enable opportunities which may involve some
degree of risk
10)
Actively maintain family and previous
social contacts. |
